Jessica Fancourt- Owner & DEcorator
How in the world did my cookie journey begin? As a special education teacher in Virginia I had to start brainstorming unique and affordable ways to give gifts to all of my friends. With help from my mom I started baking and decorating sugar cookies for everyone during the holidays. What started as a cost efficient gift idea and hobby quickly grew to so much more when my friends started asking me to make cookies for weddings and other events.
After a few years, I packed up my life and hobby, and moved to Greensboro, North Carolina to be with my now husband, Evan. I continued my special education career here, while also growing my little cookie business. I became known as a teacher by day and cookier by night. Thanks to my best friend/motivator, Olivia, I really started to see the potential in my little cookie business. She gave me the push to realize that my talent and drive for baking and decorating cookies, could be a full time career.
In February 2018 I welcomed my sweet baby boy Jackson into the world. As much as I loved teaching I knew that I could not miss out on all of Jackson’s milestones. At that point, I realized that my little cookie business was going to give me the opportunity to be a stay-at-home (WORKING) mom. With support from my family and my best friend, Sweeter by the Batch became an official business. Special education will always hold a huge piece of my heart, but I am absolutely loving being a mom and couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
Olivia Moore- Baker & Cookie Bookie
My journey into the cookie business all started when I realized the talent of my best friend! After graduating from N.C. State with a B.S. in Fashion Marketing and Management, I went into the retail world and that was not for me! I knew I wanted to continue using my marketing and business skills, and what better way to use them than to help your friend build her cookie business? We worked hard, got organized and really started marketing the business. As the business grew, my baking skills and very minimal decorating skills had to grow too! Thanks to Jessica and all of our amazing customers I’ve learned how to make and decorate a delicious sugar cookie, and I’ve become a full time cookie bookie. I’m so lucky to get to work with my best friend every day and see just how far we have come.
